Former NFL Coach Rex Ryan Admits He Once Ditched His Wife at the Airport to Go to Cancun

Former NFL coach Rex Ryan revealed he once went to Cancun by himself while his wife was stuck at the airport due to an issue with their dog.

On Monday’s episode of #Greeny, Ryan told the story of a couple’s vacation they had planned in Cancun. As they were boarding the plane, they were informed their dogs wouldn’t be able to travel with them due to the fact that one of them had a “new cough” — likely referring to the new respiratory illness that’s been affecting dogs. Because of this, Ryan’s wife decided to take them back home.

“So I did what every man who’s been married for 37 years would do,” Ryan said.

ESPN analyst Domonique Foxworth then tried to finish his sentence.

“You packed up your stuff and went home and spent the week with your wife and your sick dog,” Foxworth said.

In reality, Ryan did the exact opposite.

“No, of course not,” Ryan responded. “I went down to Cancun… I’m the third wheel on the thing, but I’m sitting back there and drinking beer and laying [down], having a good time in the ocean and enjoying the sun. Of course! That’s what every man would do who’s been married for 37 years!”

To some, the idea of Ryan ditching his wife at the airport may be surprising. After all, this is the same man who once had a framed photo of her feet at his desk during his coaching days.
