JD Vance Gets Roasted After Dropping College Football Title Trophy During Ohio State’s White House Visit
Vice President JD Vance had a tough time holding the Ohio State’s national championship trophy when he fumbled it to the ground.
Vance and President Donald Trump on Monday welcomed the Buckeyes to the White House. In January, the team beat the Notre Dame Irish 34-23 in the College Football Playoff to win its first national championship in a decade.
After some remarks, Ohio State coach Ryan Day presented Trump with a personalized jersey and a helmet. As photos of the moment were being taken, Vance motioned over to the trophy — seemingly requesting to include it in the photo op. With the assistance of a player, Vance then attempted to hoist the trophy.
Once he picked it up, however, the trophy detached from the stand on which it was resting. The player was able to catch the trophy itself, but the stand Vance was holding tumbled to the ground. Vance picked the stand up and he attempted to reattach it to the trophy, then opted to just hold the trophy on its own. Noticing the commotion, Day walked over to help before going back to his spot next to Trump.
Unsurprisingly, social media had a field day with the mishap and Vance was harshly roasted.
Vance took the moment in stride, joking on Twitter/X that he “didn’t want anyone after Ohio State to get the trophy so I decided to break it.”
