Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel made some eyebrow-raising comments about the future of his team following their blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

The Dolphins lost 31-6 to the lowly Browns to move to just 1-6 for the season. Throughout most of the game, the Dolphins appeared lifeless and hardly put up much of a fight. They trailed the Browns 17-6 at halftime, and things only got worse from there.

Fueling the blowout loss was a disastrous performance from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who completed 12 of 23 passes for just 100 yards and no touchdowns. The QB also threw three interceptions, prompting McDaniel to bring in backup Quinn Ewers.

After the game, McDaniel ominously hinted at making changes to the team and getting rid of those who are “negatively affecting the football team.”

“There’s a lot of guys that will have an important work week,” McDaniel said at the presser, “because we’re not — I mean, if you are negatively affecting the football team routinely, I don’t have a choice but to assess a different player. And I have to coach a lot better, as well. So we need — we’re gonna find out who and what we’re made of.”

The week before, Tagovailoa provided a glimpse into the dysfunctional nature of the team when he revealed that players had been regularly missing team meetings.
