WATCH: CNN’s Abby Phillip Confronts Patrick Mahomes About MAGA-Fueled Conspiracy Theory That the Super Bowl Was ‘Scripted’ to Appease Taylor Swift

CNN’s Abby Phillip confronted Patrick Mahomes about some of the bizarre conspiracy theories surrounding the Super Bowl his Kansas City Chiefs just won.

In an interview Monday night on CNN, Phillip asked the Chief’s signal caller about the MAGA-fueled premise that the Super Bowl was rigged to curry political favor with Taylor Swift in exchange for a subsequent endorsement of President Joe Biden.

“There were some wild conspiracy theories that were flying around this season that the Taylor Swift effect was all scripted to allow Taylor to use the Super Bowl for politics, basically,” Phillip told Mahomes. “So the president himself, President Biden, kind of got in on the joke a little there. What do you make of just how this has spiraled, not just to football, but to politics in all these different areas?”

The jubilant Mahomes — now a three-time Super Bowl champion — largely demurred.

“Yeah, it’s been wild to see,” Mahomes said. “I mean, I try to focus in on football as much as possible, but there’s always some conspiracy theories out there. I just try to enjoy football, my family, and I kind of stay off social media as much as possible.”

“Yeah, I would say that is wise,” Phillip replied.
