WATCH: NY Mets Broadcast Abruptly Cuts Out During Crucial Late-Game Play

The SNY broadcast for the New York Mets’ Tuesday night game during a pivotal late-game play, leaving viewers completely in the dark as to what happened.

At the top of the ninth inning of the Mets’ game against the Milwaukee Brewers, the game was tied 2-2 and Brewers had the bases loaded. Brewers third baseman David Hamilton hit a line drive right in the direction of Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor. As Lindor extended his glove to try to catch the ball and save the go-ahead run, the broadcast suddenly went black.

Fifteen seconds later, the broadcast returned to a smiling Lindor, who managed to make the catch and preserve the tie going into the bottom of the ninth.

Mets fans were understandably outraged by the technical issues. Social media user Mike Daddino summarized the agony in a video posted on X/Twitter, saying:

So here’s being a Mets fan in a nutshell, OK. Bases loaded, two outs, top of the ninth, [Jefry Yan] is in. Here we go! Could be trouble– no! The game goes into a blackout! Are you f*cking– I don’t know what happens still! What the f*ck happened? Still blacked out! Still f*cking blacked out! And now it’s back and I guess he caught it? Some catch! Mr. Smiles, I’ve been hard on him, but gee golly, that’s some catch! But f*ck you, SNY!

Podcaster Jake Brown explained that Tuesday night’s issues were just the latest in a long list of problems plaguing the network this season.

“It’s been happening over and over,” he said, “where you’re missing home runs, the camera’s cut in the wrong direction, you’re missing a replay, it’s not getting the play. And then look, it’s black. And now it’s back! And now we know what happened — he caught it — because he’s celebrating, but we gotta watch the replay. We get robbed of a great Gary Cohen call.”

The Mets went on win the game 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth.
