Jelly Roll Goes Right Back to Roasting Trump as Kimmel Guest Host, Laughs Off MAGA Fury

Jelly Roll doubled down on quips mocking President Donald Trump on Tuesday night despite facing backlash from conservatives over a string of jokes targeting the president during his Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest-hosting stint.

The country star returned for his second night behind Jimmy Kimmel’s desk while the host is on summer break, and immediately addressed the reaction to his Trump-heavy monologue the night before while making clear he had no intention of backing off.

“Thank you for joining us here in Los Angeles, where it is hotter than hell outside. And that ain’t right, y’all. I flew here from Tennessee. We only come here for the women, weed, and the weather,” he began. “I’m so sweaty right now. It’s like the East Wing of the White House in my pants.”

“My ballroom is an absolute disaster,” he added.

Pivoting to MAGA’s fury at the previous night’s Trump jabs, he continued: “I did a couple of jokes like that last night, in case y’all didn’t hear about it, and it’s because I’m hosting a damn late-night show. That’s where you talk about the news and you make jokes. But I guess apparently because I did it, it really messed with people’s heads.”

He then displayed a headline from The Wrap declaring that he had stunned the show’s audience with his “multiple jabs” on Trump.

“As a former felon and drug dealer who has lost 300 pounds, has tattoos all over his face and won three Grammys, this is the weirdest thing I’ve ever done to ‘stun’ people,” he joked.

“What a turn of events,” Jelly Roll continued. “Who would have guessed I’d get in more trouble with the president than Rosie O’Donnell?”

O’Donnell had guest-hosted the show the previous week, and despite her decades-long feud with the president and her own jokes about him, she managed to get through the week without much blowback.

The singer said some viewers had objected to his failure to treat Trump “with reverence and dignity,” prompting him to turn the criticism back on himself.

“I don’t even treat myself with reverence and dignity,” he said. “One day I looked in the mirror and said, ‘You, my friend, are a pastry.’”

He continued: “Frankly, I think most people were just surprised that I had any opinions at all. They see a guy that looks like me and assume the only opinion I have is whether I prefer my meth crystal or classic.”

Jelly Roll then returned to Trump: “Now, let’s be honest for a second, any U.S. president should be able to handle a few jokes, right? They should also be able to handle gas prices, health care, and the occasional international conflict –”

The audience erupted as the guest host hit his critics with another punchline: “Look y’all, I get it that some people are mad at me for goofing on Trump, but if you wanted me to make jokes about Kamala Harris, you should have voted for her.”

“So, for those who threatened to stop listening to my music based on my comments last night, I just want to say with conviction, go right ahead because I’m going to keep speaking my truth,” he said. “Or my name isn’t Post Malone.”
