Longtime New York Yankees announcer Michael Kay praised the team’s offensive output Thursday with an unexpected comparison to orgies.

The Yankees took on the Baltimore Orioles for the final game in their three-game series. With the game still scoreless in the third inning, the Yankees struck first with three runs in the frame. The team would never give up that lead, winning the game 6-1 to sweep the series.

Following that three-run third, Kay described the offensive effort in a very unexpected way.

“But the Yankees, three runs in an inning?” he began. “It’s an offensive orgy! And this guy really needed it. [Yankees outfielder Heliot Ramos] goes the other way. His first RBI as a Yank!”

While the comparison was surprising enough, it may also come as a shock to some that it’s not the first time Kay has invoked an orgy while talking about baseball.

Last season, Kay came to the defense of Yankees manager Aaron Boone after he was criticized for attending a college football game while his team was in the playoff hunt.

According to Kay, however, the team hotel isn’t always a safe space. He said:

You know, when players are out, “Oh, they should be back in the hotel room.” OK, what if they’re having an orgy in their hotel room? Is that OK? You wouldn’t know about it. So they go out to dinner with people, or having fun with people outside, well, that angers you because there’s a game the next day; but if they were in the hotel room, and they set up a trapeze, and there were people flying through the air having an orgy, you wouldn’t know about it but you’d be fine?

Critics had argued that Boone should have been at the team hotel preparing for the Yankees’ next game.
