Abdul El-Sayed Mocks Pete Hegseth’s Fox News Tenure During Interview on the Network: ‘The Sixth Host of The Five’

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed mocked Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during an appearance on Fox News, referring to him as “the sixth host” on the network’s five-host show, The Five.

El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, joined Monday’s Jesse Watters Primetime, where he tangled with the host for about 25 minutes on a variety of topics, including the federal budget. At one point, Jesse Watters asked El-Sayed if he knows how much the budget currently is.

“I don’t want you guys to blow the country up,” Watters said of El-Sayed’s support of Medicare for All. “Do you know how much the federal budget is now?”

“Pete Hegseth–” El-Sayed began as Watters interrupted.

“Abdul, answer the question,” the host demanded. “Do you know how much it is?”

El-Sayed dodged the question and went in on Hegseth, who, with President Donald Trump, is requesting $1.5 trillion for the Pentagon. The candidate noted that Hegseth is a former Fox News pundit, albeit not a particularly prominent one:

I just want to talk about this. You wanna talk about budgets. I’m happy to do that. The guy who used to work on your channel, I think he was like the sixth host on The Five. He wanted to raise our military budget to $1.5 trillion, and you don’t seem to be upset about that. What? So we could fight we don’t know how to get out of, to raise our gas prices $5 a gallon? That doesn’t make sense to me, Jesse.

Before Trump nominated Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, Hegseth was a co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend.

“I have a feeling, Abdul, you don’t even know how much money the government spends every year,” Watters replied. “Do you know?”

El-Sayed did not know, prompting Watters to say, “It’s $7 trillion a year, and your plan to take over the healthcare system is $4 trillion.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Watters asked El-Sayed if he thinks it is “ok for a parent to slash his kid’s ding-a-ling off.”

“I mean, so, do you really wanna have this conversation?” El-Sayed responded. “Are you circumcised?”

Watters concluded the interview by telling El-Sayed that his ideas are “straight-up wacky.”
