AM Joy Takes on Right Wing Reax to Trump Caving: ‘When Lou Dobbs is the Voice of Reason? Katy Bar the Door’

Some on the right are in serious denial about Donald Trump‘s decision to cave in on his border wall and reopen the government, as Joy Reid and her panel pointed out by noting that lavishly pro-Trump Lou Dobbs had to be the “voice of reason” this week.

On Sunday morning’s edition of MSNBC’s AM Joy, Reid played a clip of former Trump senior adviser Sebastian Gorka calling Trump’s cave a “masterstroke,” only to be derided by Dobbs.

“You are talking about the woman that’s the Queen of the Hill, partner,” Dobbs said to Gorka, and added “On this broadcast, she’s the winner.”

“When Lou Dobbs is the voice of reason, Katy, bar the door!” said an amused Reid.

She then twisted the knife by playing right-wing takes on Trump’s cave from the likes of Ann Coulter and Judge Jeanine Pirro, plus another clip of Dobbs telling Gorka that Pelosi “has just whipped” Trump.

Panelists Eric Boehlert and Zerlina Maxwell then spent several minutes roasting the conservative media figures who can’t seem to admit what just happened to Trump. “It’s cultish behavior,” Boehlert said.

“It’s a bit sad to listen to them try to buck [Trump] up,” Reid said.

Perhaps saddest of all, Maxwell said that Trump needs to “stop listening to Ann Coulter,” but added “I don’t know who he’s going to listen to, because there is nobody in the White House that’s smart and effective in terms of governing, but better than Coulter.”
