Brie Larson Didn’t Seem Happy to Be Presenting Casey Affleck With His Oscar
Lots of people weren’t happy with Casey Affleck‘s Oscar win last night due to his history with allegations of sexual harassment. In 2010, the Manchester By The Sea star was hit with two lawsuits filed separately by two women who alleged that he made “uninvited and unwelcome sexual advances” toward them while they were working on the film I’m Still Here. He denied the allegations, and ended up settling with the women out of court.
Brie Larson, who won the Best Actress award last year for her work in Room, in which she played a victim of sexual abuse, presented Affleck with the statue. When she called Affleck’s name, she was visibly uncomfortable. She also did not applaud. The Internet noticed, and lots of people praised her silent but powerful protest:
