Dana Bash ‘Hearing from People’ Not Sure Kamala Harris ‘Closed The Deal’ For Undecided Voters in CNN Town Hall
CNN journalist Dana Bash cautioned that undecided voters at Wednesday’s town hall were warning that Vice President Kamala Harris failed to “close the deal” and agreed that the Democratic nominee didn’t “necessarily” provide answers “about her legislative priorities.”
On Wednesday night, Harris took questions from CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and undecided voters on the economy and immigration in the audience during a swing state town hall in Pennsylvania.
Speaking to CNN host Jake Tapper after the event, Bash was asked for her take. She began by outlining what she was being told by sources who were in attendance.
She said: “Well, I’ll just tell you what I‘m hearing from people who I have been talking to, and that is that if her goal was to close the deal, they‘re not sure she did that. And, you know, some people have asked, is she being held to a different standard? Maybe. But that‘s maybe the world that she‘s living in. And on the question of who she is, people are understanding that a little bit more.”
The journalist continued: “But what she will do? The question about her legislative priorities name one – there wasn‘t one. You know, some more of her personality and her sort of character questions about your weaknesses or what mistakes did you make, not necessarily the answers there.”
Bash did caveat her take with praise for facing the questions: “Having said that, any time that she can be in front of an audience and interacting with voters is a win, as far as her campaign goes, and they are very happy about that.”
