Fox’s Lawrence Jones ‘Disappointed’ in JD Vance’s Israel Comments to Joe Rogan: ‘Not What the President Stands for’
Fox News host Lawrence Jones said he was “disappointed” in Vice President JD Vance over the veep’s remarks about Israel during a three-hour interview with Joe Rogan this week.
The moment played out on Thursday morning’s Fox & Friends, a day after the Joe Rogan Experience interview dropped.
After playing a clip of Vance telling Rogan that some in the Israeli government are “manipulating and trying to change America’s public opinion” on the war with Iran, Jones spoke out.
“I’m kind of disappointed in the vice president,” Jones said. “You know me. I am not what you would call a hawk. But I understand what defense of the country means and our greatest ally means.”
Referencing another remark by Vance that he is a “moderate” on Israel, Jones added:
Part of the comments that concern me wasn’t even so much of that one, it’s that he said that he found himself to be a moderate on the issue with Israel. That’s not what the president stands for. The president made it very clear, with that it’s our closest ally, and that we will work with them. Now, there are some times where the president says he needs to call Bibi off a little bit, that he wants to go a little further than the president is comfortable with, because he’s balancing what’s happening in the Arab world and what’s happening, you know, with Israel as well.
But to say that there are people that are on air trying to pressure the administration some way in advancement of Israel and not our own country’s interest, that is categorically false. I don’t know that report that’s going around, but that’s not what the president stands for. So that was disappointing. He’s always welcome on our program to talk about it, but being moderate when it comes to Israel, that is not the Republican position.
Co-host Brian Kilmeade then chimed in: “Iran calls us their main enemy. They have our president in a coffin and Lindsey Graham with a target. So come on. This is not Israel’s agenda. It’s America’s agenda. This is not Israel’s agenda. This is America’s agenda.”
