Jake Tapper to Donate 100% of Film Advance to Veterans Charities

CNN’s Jake Tapper announced on Twitter on Tuesday how he would be spending the advance for the movie version of his 2012 book “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor”, and it’s amazing.

The book is the true story of one of the deadliest battles in Afghanistan, the battle for Combat Outpost (COP) Keating. The American Legion considers the battle a “signature conflict of the war,” and Tapper’s book telling the story of what happened, and how and why, is getting a major motion picture release.

After several inquiries about the proceeds, Tapper explained exactly what he’s doing with the money.

It’s fitting that Tapper made this announcement on 9/11. Those who sacrificed, who fought, who died, are the basis of the story. Jake Tapper is putting the money their story generates to work for other men and women in uniform. An outstanding move.

The film is being released by Millennium Films and will star, among others, Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom.
