Jimmy Fallon Roasts TikTok After Trump’s Cabinet Rushes to Join the Platform

Jimmy Fallon took a swipe at TikTok on Wednesday night after a wave of President Donald Trump’s senior officials launched accounts following a Justice Department policy reversal that cleared the app for use on government devices.

The Tonight Show host opened his monologue by poking fun at the administration’s embrace of the platform, joking that TikTok itself might be regretting its newfound audience.

“Well, guys, people are talking about this. I saw that most of President Trump’s cabinet just launched their own TikTok accounts,” Fallon said.

He followed with: “Right now, TikTok is like, ‘Oh, no, are we the new Facebook?'”

The audience laughed as Fallon suggested the platform’s younger users would be less than enthusiastic about the influx of cabinet officials.

“Yeah. I’m sure Gen Z will be like, ‘OMG, you will not believe what Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum just posted. Slay!'” Fallon said, before adding a deadpan “Scuba” – a viral TikTok dance trend.

The jokes came a day after Trump and several members of his administration debuted TikTok accounts following a Justice Department determination that the app is now considered safe for federal employees. The move follows changes to TikTok’s U.S. ownership that administration officials say mean the platform is no longer controlled by Chinese interests, effectively superseding restrictions imposed under the 2022 No TikTok on Government Devices Act.

Trump promoted the rollout with a video featuring members of his cabinet before appearing himself at the end of the montage.

Among those who launched accounts were Burgum, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Some senior administration figures yet to join the platform include Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
