Laura Ingraham Marvels at Mamdani’s Multilingual Skills: ‘Pretty Good’
Fox News host Laura Ingraham offered some unexpected praise for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday, marveling at his ability to speak multiple languages and declaring, “It’s pretty good.”
Mamdani went viral on social media after releasing videos of himself speaking Bengali, Mandarin, and Spanish to promote a campaign offering free Broadway tickets to New York City high school students. The initiative, created in partnership with the nonprofit Theatre Development Fund, is offering 2,100 free tickets to seven Broadway productions.
On Monday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle, Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo said, “Leave it to a socialist, Laura, to push a lottery for theater tickets. But then to make sure that all the new New Yorkers could understand his theater pitch, he delivered it in Bengali, Spanish, and Chinese.”
After playing a supercut of the New York City mayor’s clips, Ingraham admitted, as Arroyo laughed along, “Pretty good. That was pretty good. That’s actually — he actually has a good accent. Not bad.”
Arroyo went on to point out, “He’s appealing to the Bangladeshis and the Chinese… 66% of the Broadway audience is white. 11% is Asian. I mean, I’m sorry — the Bangladeshi audience is not that extreme on Broadway.”
Ingraham then went on to change the subject to the show Mamma Mia!
Fellow Fox News host Jesse Watters, however, made less of an effort to celebrate Mamdani’s linguistic skills on Monday’s edition of Jesse Watters Primetime.
“The commies just found the Rosetta Stone,” he told the broadcast. “Mamdani, speaking the language of the revolution — Mandarin Chinese. And just like [former Chinese Communist Chairman Mao Zedong], he’s sending in the Red Guards to purge the productive class… Mamdani may be speaking Chinese, but his comrades are telling the country what they want in plain English.”
