James Carville Tells Fox News Viewers, ‘Trump’s at 32% in the Polling’

Democratic strategist James Carville got in a shot at President Donald Trump on Fox News, telling the network’s audience the president is doing poorly in the polls.

Carville appeared on Monday’s Jesse Watters Primetime, where the host noted a shift in rhetoric from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) over the years. Jesse Watters noted Ocasio-Cortez’s prior use of the phrase “people who menstruate” in the early 2020s.

“I’m smelling a run,” Watters said of AOC’s potential presidential aspirations in 2028. The host welcomed Carville to the show and asked, “Do you guys think that you guys should run AOC, another woman? You guys have not done well running women, James.”

Carville responded:

Well, first of all, I don’t know if I feel bad about the Democratic Party. We’re ahead eight points in congressional [generic polling]. Trump’s at 32% in the polling. So, I don’t know about you, why worry about the Democrats right now? I’m not. We’re gonna win the House and we’re gonna win the Senate.

Watters then asked if Carville is “worried about the communists taking over the party.” Carville replied that the recent Democratic primary victories by members of the Democratic Socialists of America are not indicative of the broader party.

Depending on the poll, Trump’s approval rating is anywhere between the low 30s and low 40s since mid-July. On Sunday, Trump threw a Truth Social tantrum at Fox News anchors Shannon Bream and Bret Baier, and accused them of “showing fake polls” to their viewers.

Elsewhere in the interview, Watters attempted to goad Carville into speaking ill of Democratic candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, who won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

“This guy Abdul, who calls you names, Carville,” Watters said. “He hates you.”

“So what?” Carville shot back. “They don’t like me. I don’t dislike them.”
