Norm Macdonald Is KFC’s New Colonel Sanders
A few months back, the Internet collectively freaked out when it became apparent that Saturday Night Live’s all-time great impressionist Darrell Hammond was portraying an eerily realistic Colonel Sanders in a new ad campaign for KFC. But now, one of Hammond’s former SNL cast members has abruptly taken the reins.
In a new series of ads, Norm Macdonald’s Colonel watches Hammond on his old-timey television and says, “Hey, that’s not the real Colonel Sanders. I’m the real Colonel Sanders.” And unlike Hammond, Macdonald’s accent is barely competent, a fact he acknowledges with a signature shrug.
“They can’t just grab some super-funny Hollywood actor, throw a white suit on him and try to pass him off as the real Colonel Sanders,” Macdonald says in another spot.
The whole thing is a blatant attempt to get sites like this one to talk about KFC, which naturally, we just did.
