Sen. Tuberville Invents a New Shape To Explain What He Wants To Do to the Pentagon

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) invented a new shape on Wednesday while describing what he says should be done to the budget of the Department of Defense.

The former college football coach appeared on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle, where he suggested the Pentagon’s massive budget should be cut. On Tuesday, the House passed a spending blueprint supported by President Donald Trump that increases the department’s budget by $100 billion. In the last fiscal year, Congress authorized more than $800 billion to DoD, which has failed seven consecutive audits.

“Now, Senator, will the Defense Department budget be cut?” Laura Ingraham asked Tuberville. “I interviewed Secretary [Pete] Hegseth… He has some goals in that arena. But will that happen? It’s $850 billion, and we know there’s a lot of waste, fraud, and abuse inside the Pentagon spending craziness.”

The senator replied by pointing to the failed audits and said the Pentagon’s budget should be decreased. In doing so, he coined something called a “trigon”:

We have to start in the Pentagon. We need to make a trigon – three sides instead of five sides of the Pentagon. It is way too big, way over-bloated. They have what? Thirty, 40,000 in the Pentagon and 100,000 people across the street in Arlington that are making tons of money. We have to cut back and do it for the warfighter. Help the war fighter build equipment, do the things we need do. We can get the cuts, but we need to continue to do what Pete has done: cut out all the bloat and all the DEI. Get our military back to a killing machine. Somebody that can protect this country and our allies.

Last week, HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic reported that Tuberville referred to a “trigon” instead of a triangle when explaining how he felt about defense spending.

“Cut a couple of sides off of it,” the senator was reported as saying.
