Six More Weeks of Winter, Suckers

Punxsutawny Phil saw his shadow Monday morning, auguring six more weeks of winter, just as a winter storm hit the northeast. The feisty rodent also took a couple of bites out of his handler, auguring six more weeks of crankiness.

There were signs this year that Phil is catching up to new trends, taking a selfie before the ceremony and reminding everybody of the hash tag #sixmoreweeksofwinter. If it’s like any other hash tag it will be turned into an ironic internet meme, co-opted poorly by a corporation, and finally used by a presidential candidate or advocacy group in an embarrassing manner. Huzzah!
