Soledad O’Brien Accidentally Exposes Rep. David Rivera As A User Of Hairspray
Soledad O’Brien‘s Starting Point — a show that’s been, thanks to O’Brien’s grilling of guests, frequent diner settings, and the fun sartorial shots fired back and forth by Will Cain and Roland Martin, an early-morning delight thus far — experienced a few funny logistical hiccups on Friday morning as it began broadcasting.
Opening the show, O’Brien had the camera pan to an empty chair, which was supposed to belong to panelist David Frum, who was late.
“There is no David Frum,” O’Brien said. “I’ve committed to mocking David Frum this morning because he is late for my show! I’m told it’s not his fault, but too bad, we don’t care.”
O’Brien then segued into an interview with Florida Republican Congressman David Rivera, who was joining them live via satellite. As they cut to his shot, it looked like he was mouthing words. A woman’s hands then appeared on screen, one wielding a large bottle of hairspray, the other gently patting down his hair.
“Oh — I don’t know that you’re ready for us yet,” O’Brien said, as the camera cut away.
