Voters on Daily Show Brutally Roast Elon Musk’s Political Party: ‘From His Own Loins, He’s Got a Few Supporters’
The Daily Show’s Michael Kosta found New York voters were a little less than thrilled with billionaire Elon Musk’s plans to launch his own political party after his falling out with President Donald Trump.
Kosta went to the streets of New York for a Daily Show segment on Wednesday in which he asked how voters feel about Musk’s promise to launch the America Party. Musk teased a new political party after a falling out with Trump over his Big Beautiful Bill and more.
“How excited are you?” Kosta asked his first guest.
“Not at all. That’s terrifying,” the young man said.
A woman next said “nothing” could attract her to the party, while another said she predicted it would stand for tax cuts for billionaires and cutting federal programs “that have done some good in our society,” a reference TO Musk’s work to slash federal spending during his time with DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency).
“I’m not excited that it’s Elon Musk. I don’t like Elon Musk. I don’t think people relate to him,” the second woman said.
Another male voter predicted little to no support for Musk’s party.
“I’d say most of America has turned on him at this point,” the man said.
“He’s got like 50 kids scattered across the country? Probably at least half of them would support him. Maybe 10, well, at least the one he uses as a human shield,” Kosta said, referring to Musk’s son X, full name X Æ A-12, who accompanied Musk to some White House events.
“From his own loins, I guess you could say he’s got a few supporters,” the man told Kosta.
The Daily Show correspondent did find one young male voter who said he’s “ecstatic” over Musk leading his own party.
“Tell me why,” Kosta said.
“Honestly, I haven’t really into it very much,” the man said, unable to name what part of Musk’s “platform” he’s excited for.
