‘Why Wasn’t Any of That Done Over the Last Four Years?’ Anderson Cooper Presses Harris After She Outlines Agenda
CNN’s Anderson Cooper noted Vice President Kamala Harris has not created any separation between herself and President Joe Biden Wednesday night during a town hall in Pennsylvania when he asked her why her White House plans had not already been accomplished.
Harris was pressed by Cooper as to how she would govern differently than her boss. The host also asked her why her proposals had not become policies over the last three-and-a-half years.
She explained to an audience in Delaware County that she would rely on her experience as a middle-class American to offer better opportunities to voters who felt ignored:
I know who small business owners are. I know what they do. They are the backbone of America’s economy, and for too long, we’ve overlooked their value, much less to the economy of neighborhoods and communities. So that’s why my plan – and it’s a new approach – is about tax so that they can invest in themselves and grow. And in the process, invest in communities, invest in neighborhoods, and strengthen our economy overall.
So those are some examples. It’s about a new approach, a new generation of leadership based on new ideas and frankly, different experiences. I bring a whole set of different experiences to this job and the way I think about it than Joe Biden.
Cooper responded, “Some voters, though, might ask, you’ve been in the White House for for four years, you were vice president, not the president. But why wasn’t any of that done over the last four years?”
Harris replied, “Well, there was a lot that was done, but there’s more to do, Anderson. And I’m pointing out things that need to be done that haven’t been done but need to be done.”
The vice president has been criticized in recent weeks for not putting separation between herself and some of the more unpopular policies of the Biden administration.
