Natalie Harp Controversy Sparks Shouting Match on Fox: ‘I Know You’re Clutching Your Pearls’

The Natalie Harp saga prompted a fiery clash on Fox News after longtime conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt took exception to Sen. Jon Ossoff’s (D-GA) now infamous remarks about presidential aide Natalie Harp.

Appearing on Special Report with Bret Baier, Hewitt reacted strongly after guest host Trace Gallagher brought up Ossoff’s now viral remark about President Donald Trump traveling “with Natalie” — and a Democrat on the panel appeared to dismiss GOP hand-wringing that has since erupted over the quip.

Former Democratic Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy called Ossoff “his own man” as he discussed the controversy.

“I think that there is a lot of folks in the White House have their panties in a bunch because the truth hurts. And that’s what Jon Ossoff said. The truth hurts. And I think there is a lot of folks that are relooking at what’s going on right now and not happy about it. I’ll say that,” Murphy said.

Hewitt took exception.

“What Patrick just said … I have to correct him,” Hewitt said before going on to call Harp “absolutely above board” and labeling Ossoff’s comment “repulsive.”

“He’d been repudiated by David Axelrod and other serious Democrats. He should apologize,” Hewitt said.

Murphy quickly cut in, referencing Trump’s decision to take the 35-year-old former cable news anchor with him when the Secret Service snuck him off Air Force One last month, while leaving Cabinet members behind:

PATRICK MURPHY: Hugh, Hugh, Hugh: time out. Hugh, time out. President Trump left his secretary of state and his secretary of the treasury back in Turkey to take a different plane.

HUGH HEWITT: Natalie Harp has not had any relationship with the president. It’s disgusting.

MURPHY:He didn’t say that. He just said he went on the plane with her, come on.

HEWITT: To insinuate that is disgusting.

MURPHY: Listen I know you’re clutching your pearls but I mean it’s little rich after the last 10 years.

HEWITT: Do you think it’s true? No, you don’t. You know it’s a lie by Ossoff, you know it’s a lie by Ossoff and David Axelrod has said that.

MURPHY: Did the President take a plane with her and left his secretary

HEWITT: She’s close aid, and if you are going to deal misogynistic lies, shame on you and the democratic party

MURPHY: God bless you, buddy.

Harp has been making headlines since Ossoff invoked her name during a campaign rally Sunday, telling the crowd in a now-viral remark that Trump, 80, doesn’t want to do his job but instead “wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie to their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar.”

The devoted aide, known as the “human printer” for lugging around a portable printer to give Trump hard copies of articles and other materials, wrote letters to the president that were recently revealed by the Daily Beast.

In one, she called herself “unworthy” and in another she told Trump: “I never want to bring you anything but joy. I’m sorry I lost my focus. You are all that matters to me. I don’t want to ever let you down. Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life,” according to the report.
