‘You Could Literally Hear the Panic’: MS NOW’s Chris Hayes Airs Clips of Fox Hosts Imploring Trump To End Iran War

MS NOW’s Chris Hayes took a moment on Tuesday’s All In to air snippets of Fox hosts either urging President Donald Trump to end the Iran war or discussing ways to mitigate its effects.

The night before, the U.S. bombed Iran for the 10th straight day after Iranian strikes on Jordan killed two active-duty U.S. Army soldiers over the weekend. A third soldier was killed in Iraq while disposing of an Iranian drone. At least 17 U.S. soldiers have been killed since Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched the war in February.

The war has been deeply unpopular from the beginning, and now a whopping 69% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the conflict. On Tuesday, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee to ask for $95 billion in supplemental funding for the war, on top of the $1.15 trillion Pentagon budget making its way through Congress.

“With just over a hundred days until the midterms, Donald Trump has restarted the war with Iran,” Hayes told viewers. “At least three American service members are dead, dozens injured. Of course, oil prices are now shooting up once again. And you could literally hear the panic among anyone who is invested in a Republican majority. And they’re not being subtle about it.”

He then aired three clips of Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Fox Business host David Asman, and Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume.

“The clock is ticking for President Trump to get out of this war before voters head to the polls,” Ingraham said. “It’s making a lot of Republicans nervous. It’s already, as we know, unpopular. According to the new Washington Post/Ipsos poll, 69% of Americans disapprove of the handling of this conflict. Republicans cannot let this become an endless distraction, especially if they want to win in November.”

“Is there any way to work around Iran, that is to pump more, to develop more pipelines in the Mid East to get around the Iranian hump, if you will?” Asman asked a guest.

“He promised to keep us out of endless wars or unsatisfactory wars,” Hume stated. “And now he’s in one. And it’s not at all clear how it’s gonna end. So he’s vulnerable on this point. And in political terms, he does need to get this over with.”

Hayes noted Ingraham’s reaction and said, “Obviously, she’s not wrong, and I think there was a general sense, when the MOU got signed, you could sort of feel the kind of palpable relief among a lot of Republicans… and if you’re them, this is about the worst turn of events, politically, they could imagine.”
