WATCH: Tucker Carlson Trashes ‘Stupid’ and ‘Deeply Unhappy’ Ex-Boss John Podhoretz in Wild Rant on Joe Rogan Podcast
Tucker Carlson appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast where he told an odd story about conservative writer John Podhoretz, his former boss.
Carlson worked for John Podhoretz at The Weekly Standard in the 1990s.During Friday’s edition of The Joe Rogan Experience, Carlson told the host Podhoretz”was one of the weirdest, most unhappy people I’ve ever met in my life.”
Carlson said:
“He would come in my office occasionally and had a really hairy back and he would rub it against the door frame…(making a grunting noise) and, like, say these kinds of obscure things. He was stupid, but he didn’t know that he was — I mean, he was actually kind of dumb. But he would philosophize. I was kind of like 10 years younger and I was his captive and he would just lecture me as he was rubbing against the door frame. And, one time we went out to lunch. And we all had drinks of course — this was like mid-90s. He didn’t really drink but he ordered this drink with like an umbrella and it had a piece of watermelon on the rim of the glass. And he took the watermelon and ate it, and then he ate the rind. I’ll never forget that, watching him eat the rind. And thinking, of course this guy’s a critic.”
Carlson has hosted his own show on X (formerly known as Twitter) ever since he was fired from Fox News about a year ago in connection with the Dominion Voting System court filing that Fox settled for $787 million over false 2020 presidential election claims.
Earlier this week, Podhoretz criticized one of Carlson’s broadcasts by tweeting, “Anti Semite filth says what?”

Carlson described the broadcast thusly:
“Ep. 91 How does the government of Israel treat Christians? In the West, Christian leaders don’t seem interested in knowing the answer. They should be. Here’s the view of a pastor from Bethlehem.”
Podhoretz has been tweeting up a storm lately about anti-Semitic demonstrations across the country, attacking everyone from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), whom he called a “psychotic Karen,” to former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, whom he called a “moral amoeba.”
