American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson could miss the Olympic Games this month as a result of testing positive for marijuana, which puts her status in jeopardy to compete in the 100m sprint event.

Richardson accepted a suspension of one month that began on June 28th, meaning that she would still potentially be able to participate in the 4×100 meter relay, which takes place later in the Games — if she is named to the United States Olympic team. But the disqualification nullified her victory at the U.S. Olympic Trials — which precludes her from participating in the individual 100m competition.

She was already set to be a star in the Games and her disqualification from the Olympic Trials led to immense outrage all over twitter, after The United States Anti-Doping Agency announced the positive test result Friday morning.
