Former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced that he would soon be meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Truth Social Tuesday while slamming Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris over the wars that have broken out on her and President Joe Biden’s watch.
“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, tomorrow. During my first term, we had Peace and Stability in the Region, even signing the historic Abraham Accords – And we will have it again,” wrote Trump. “Just as I have said in discussions with President Zelensky and other World Leaders in recent weeks, my PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH Agenda will demonstrate to the World that these horrible, deadly Wars, and violent Conflicts must end. Millions are dying, and Kamala Harris is in no way capable of stopping it.”
Shortly after Trump made his announcement, The Times of Israel reported that the meeting had been rescheduled for Friday.
Trump and Netanyahu were close allies during the former’s tenure in office, but their relationship was strained after Netanyahu congratulated Biden on his victory in the 2020 election.
In 2021, Trump railed against Netanyahu during a pair of interviews with Axios’s Barak Ravid, telling him that he and Netanyahu hadn’t spoken since he congratulated Biden.
“The first person that congratulated [Biden] was Bibi Netanyahu, the man that I did more for than any other person I dealt with. … Bibi could have stayed quiet. He has made a terrible mistake,” fumed Trump at the time, even adding a “Fuck him” for good measure.
“For Bibi Netanyahu, before the ink was even dry, to do a message, and not only a message, to do a tape to Joe Biden talking about their great, great friendship — they didn’t have a friendship, because if they did, [the Obama administration] wouldn’t have done the Iran deal,” continued the former president. “And guess what, now they’re going to do it again.”
