Hillary Clinton was the First Lady of Arkansas for a time, but what kind of reception would she get if she returned to the state she once called home? Well, according to one Republican state official, it would be a pretty frosty reception.
Oh, and she might get shot.
That’s what Johnny Rhoda, the Republican chairman for Arkansas’ second district, said when asked by U.S. News whether Clinton would get a warm welcome if she returned. Not only does Rhoda doubt Clinton’s political chances would be at all positive in 2016 in the state, but he said quite clearly that if she came to Arkansas during her presidential run, “She’d probably get shot at the state line.”
He continued on to say, “Nobody has any affection for her. The majority don’t.”
And short of shooting her, people just might keep defacing her posters with “BENGHAZI.”
Update- 5:30 p.m.: Rhoda clarified his remarks to Business Insider, saying he was taken out of context and the comment “was not meant in a threatening or hostile way at all.”
