Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is looking for an assistant and he is bringing his search to television.
That’s right, the ruler of Chechnya is pulling a reverse Trump.
According to The Guardian, Kadyrov is launching a reality television show called Komanda (“Team” in English) to search for his new assistant. And before you ask, yes, there will be challenges, and no, they are not all things one expects from the assistant of a nation’s leader.
One Russian news outlet says that participants “will go up in the mountains, down to the lakes, walking forest trails and to fully appreciate the hospitality and Chechen traditions.” And they’ll “have to prove that they can perform the tasks on time and clearly able to overcome any obstacles to realize the most interesting projects together with the head of the republic.”
And there is already a website set up for the show to recruit contestants. Here’s the pitch:
This is a real chance to get a public office, and this is a huge opportunity and a great responsibility! We invite you to participate in the project, both men and women, with the formation of any type, with large-scale thinking, organizational skills, able to plan, ability to negotiate, creative and daring in the individual solutions.
And here’s a list of the questions they have for contestants (along with a video they’re required to upload explaining why they want the job):
- Why do you want to take part in the project? (briefly)
- Your best quality (winning ability)?
- What achievement you are proud of in your life?
- Do you have any ideas for the strategic development of Chechnya?
- How you will benefit in the team of the Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov?
And this type of, um, eccentric behavior is part of a pattern with Kadyrov. His cat went missing and he posted about it online. John Oliver mocked him over it, and he went on a truly bizarre rant against the comedian.
