In a remarkably awkward exchange, CNN correspondent Drew Griffin confronted a Trump supporter who ran a Facebook group that unknowingly promoted an event organized by Russian trolls.
The woman in the video denied any involvement with the Russians and said all the people at the event were legitimate Trump supporters.
As Griffin continued to challenge her, the woman said this is all “bullshit.”
The fact that CNN took these kind of lengths to confront a Trump supporter like this rubbed some people the wrong way:
CNN should be ashamed. This is not journalism this is abuse. https://t.co/7lNSD3WQLd

This lady rightly puts this CNN reporter in his place. “GTFO,” is her main message. Maybe she should show up at CNN HQ and ask why they covered a Kremlin-sponsored rally in NYC. https://t.co/x9NCAxAWsI

Ok, I’m taking a break from Dog Twitter for second to note that CNN has apparently moved from tracking down random Reddit users who create pro-Trump memes to finding middle-aged women in the suburbs who accidentally promote something from Russia. Good, good. #ThisIsAnApple. https://t.co/cg0c78QfMA

Next week, my elderly uncle will be interviewed about a fraudulent chain email he sent out that baselessly claimed you would encounter misfortune if you didn’t forward it to 5 friends. https://t.co/ONNkUY2p2L

Despicable: CNN hunts down an ordinary citizen at home, accusing her of aiding Russia because she promoted an event on FB that Mueller says Russians organized.
Go ask Michael Moore why he did that. Ask Joy Reid why Russian bots RT her so much. Challenge power. This is bullying https://t.co/pLbRGRuS4I

This is nuts. A woman living in her suburban home doesn’t deserve this badgering. She didn’t mastermind the conspiracy and she’s not a public official or a person known to the public. https://t.co/yMCLtajx0X
