D.C. Police Reportedly Open Criminal Investigation Into Protest at Tucker Carlson’s House
Washington, D.C. police have opened a criminal investigation into the Wednesday night protest outside the home of famed Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson, it was reported.
CNN’s Brian Stelter spoke about the details Thursday, speculating that “we could see the police looking into this further, possibly even trying to talk with or arrest some of the protesters.”
According to Stelter, about 20 Antifa-affiliated individuals gathered at Carlson’s northwest D.C. home while he was at work prepping for his evening show.
“His wife was home alone and his wife heard this disturbance outside, heard the knocking on the door, heard them screaming things,” Stelter said. “She was concerned about a home invasion. She called the police. The police showed up and the police report shows there was vandalism at the home.”
CNN then shared the following statement from the Metropolitan Police Department:
“The MPD takes these violations seriously and we will work to hold those accountable for their unlawful actions. There is currently an open criminal investigation regarding this matter.”
Stelter denounced the protesters, saying they went too far.
“You can you have a lot of criticisms of Fox News and I do, but it crosses a line when you’re showing up at somebody’s home,” he said. “Whether you love Tucker Carlson or hate Tucker Carlson, I think we can all agree that protesters on a driveway shouting, scaring the anchor’s wife, it’s just uncalled for.”
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace released the following joint statement on the matter:
“The incident that took place at Tucker’s home last night was reprehensible. The violent threats and intimidation tactics toward him and his family are completely unacceptable. We as a nation have become far too intolerant of different points of view. Recent events across our country clearly highlight the need for a more civil, respectful, and inclusive national conversation. Those of us in the media and in politics bear a special obligation to all Americans, to find common ground.”
