The political media world is abuzz about Texas Senator and former Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz‘s failure to endorse nominee Donald Trump during his speech at the Republican National Convention Wednesday night, but presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton‘s campaign is spending Thursday morning reminding people about someone who did endorse the nominee. Unfortunately for Donald Trump, the nominee in question is Hillary Clinton, and the heavy hitter doing the endorsing in her new ad is a guy named Donald J. Trump.
In the ad, clips of Trump praising Hillary Clinton are interspersed with print quotes, all under the heading “The Times Trump Told the Truth About Hillary Clinton.” It finishes with a nifty, possibly unintentional double entendre about Trump’s relationship to the truth and questionable conservative bona fides:
“Hillary Clinton I think is a terrific woman”
“I know her very well, and I know her husband very well, and I like them both”
“Hillary is smart, tough, and a very nice person”
“I know Hillary and I think she’d make a great president”
“Donald Trump: occasionally right”
Clinton’s campaign blasted out the new web ad Thursday morning, just in time for Trump’s address to the convention on its final night.
