It is perhaps fitting that the last word (hopefully) on the matter of Donald Trump’s bleeding face tweet would take place on Morning Joe.
For those living under a rock, the leader of the free world, blew up the news cycle yesterday when he tweeted that Mika Brzezinski had been “bleeding badly from a face-lift,” during a recent visit to Mar-a-Lago and that she had a “low I.Q.”
Things got teed up by show regular Willie Geist, who offered a solemn introduction and a promise of an in-person appearance by Mika and Joe at the top of hour two. The pre-show however, was enticing enough, as the panel went around the table lambasting Trump in ever more creative ways.
Of course, the moment we saw Donny Deutsch, we knew this post would be about him — and he did not disappoint.
“Were you surprised by what you saw yesterday?” asked Geist.
And with that, we were off to the races.
“He picked the wrong schoolyard to come into,” said Deutsch starting on a slow simmer. “I have to tell you this. I’m not an employee of NBC so I’m going to go thug here. I’m sorry. Because Mika is a friend of ours. She’s a good woman. She’s a great mom and he’s a pig. He’s a vulgar pig. Michelle Obama says when they go low we go high. We he goes low, I’m going low. You guys can take the high road.”
The camera panned to show regulars Elise Jordan and Harold Ford Jr. both with solid resting “we’ve seen this before” faces.
“He’s physically disgusting to look at. That’s what I find ironic about the way he starts to always going after other people’s physical attributes,” Deutsch raged. “He’s not mentally ok. This is a man, we have to start paying attention to it and he’s disgusting to look at.”
With the high road in serious jeopardy, a number of people tried to cut in — but Deutsch wasn’t having it.
“Enough is enough with this disgusting vulgar man and to talk about women that way and the irony is you physically look like you do, beyond the stupidity of it. You are a pig. You are a bully. And you are doing disgusting things to this country”
“But Donny, doesn’t that lower, again, the discourse to say what you said about his physical appearance?” Geist deadpanned.
But the train had already left the station.
“You know it absolute does,” said Deutsch. “I’m taking the low ground here. You know what. He goes after a woman that way. He goes after a friend that way. He is a vulgar human being. He is vulgar to look at. He is disgusting the way he behaves himself as president.”
“I’m sorry, I probably wont be on the show again.”
… we doubt that.
