During a Shooting Preparation Drill, False Reports of Real Shooting Rock an Army Base

Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 1.00.08 PMA few minutes ago, I saw some tweets popping onto my timeline announcing that a routine shooting lockdown drill at Fort Gordon in Georgia had turned into a real shooting. I was busy writing that up when new reports came out that there was no shooting, but some people just hadn’t been informed of the drill.

Chaser:

Yikes.

One-word responses are really all that apply here. The sequence of misfires and bad communication that had to exist for this to happen is alarming, to say the least, but our alarm is probably nothing compared to that of the people on the base who actually thought they were under attack.
