GOP Rep: ‘My Donors’ Are Telling Me To Get Tax Reform Done Or ‘Don’t Ever’ Call Them Again

It appears Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) got caught saying the quiet part loud during a conversation with reporters earlier today.

GOP lawmakers are currently facing a ton of heat from constituents over the proposed tax overhaul that they are furiously pushing to be passed by the end of the year. House members in New Jersey and New York will likely face some of the harshest critiques back home as the bill proposes that taxpayers will no longer be able to deduct state and local taxes from their federal taxes, representing a tax hike for those residents.

But, the bill is expected to pass the House. Why? Let’s just take a look at what Collins had to say this morning.

Per The Hill’s Christina Marcos, the New York lawmaker let it be known that his donors fully expect tax reform to get done.

Considering that Collins was one of the first Congressional supporters of Donald Trump, who ran on a message of “Drain the Swamp,” it is at least somewhat ironic that Collins is kowtowing to his donors.
