GOP Rep. Says Republicans Are Quiet on Flynn Because It’s Valentine’s Day: ‘They’re Having Breakfast With Their Wives’
Cuomo: Why is GOP so quiet on Flynn?

If this was Representative Chris Collins‘ (R-NY) idea of a joke, it fell disastrously flat with CNN anchor Chris Cuomo Tuesday morning.
Collins made an appearance on New Day to discuss what is undoubtedly the day’s top story: the stunning resignation of General Michael Flynn, who admitted to fudging the truth to the White House after he made several calls to a Russian ambassador in December to discuss the possible lifting of sanctions imposed by the Obama administration.
While Kellyanne Conway has been getting hammered on her own tour of the morning talk shows today, Cuomo made note of the fact that Collins was the first member of the Republican party to publicly weigh in on the Flynn controversy this morning. “No word from [Paul] Ryan; no word from [Mitch] McConnell,” said Cuomo. “When you have a man of Flynn’s stature resign and say that he misled — maybe even lied — to other members of the White House, why is everybody so quiet?”
Well, it’s Valentine’s Day and I guess they’re having breakfast with their wives.
Cuomo did not respond to the quip, staring intensely at the screen displaying the New York Congressman.
Collins continued by noting that he hopes other people wouldn’t “pile on” to the situation, urging people instead to move on and focus on other matters; moment ago on the TODAY Show, Kellyanne Conway offered a similar response after getting grilled by Matt Lauer.
Will this be the overall White House and GOP response to the fact that the sitting National Security Advisor — whose total tenure in the role added up to just 24 days — willingly misled the White House and allowed for the Vice President to go on national television in Flynn’s defense? Time will tell. But if these morning interviews are any indication of the news cycle moving forward as this story develops, it’s going to be one long day for the Trump team, big league.
