Greta Van Susteren Fires Back At Meghan McCain Over Correspondents Dinner Tweet

Fox News Channel host Greta Van Susteren has been taking heat from comedians and pundits alike over her threats to boycott the TV & Radio Correspondents’ Dinner because it would be headlined by comedian Louis C.K. while simultaneously taking actress Lindsay Lohan with her to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She received admonishments from conservative author and daughter of Sen. John McCain, Meghan McCain, as well as the comedian and dinner host Jimmy Kimmel this week. On Friday, FishbowlDC reported that Van Susteren has responded.

On Thursday, McCain was the first to go after Van Susteren for her hypocrisy when she tweeted: “Let me get this straight. Greta Van Susteren is bringing Lindsay Lohan to the WHC Dinner but has a moral offense to Louie C.K?”

Kimmel was shocked when he was told by Politico reporter Patrick Gavin that Van Susteren planned on boycotting the TV & Radio Correspondents’ Dinner over the inclusion of C.K. as host. “Really,” said a shocked Kimmel. When asked if he was worried whether Van Susteren may dig up any controversial comedy bits he had done in the past, Kimmel replied, “well I didn’t even think about it to be honest about it.”

“Everything I’ve said I’ve said on television, whereas Louis worked mostly in comedy clubs. I don’t really care,” said Kimmel.

Van Susteren finally responded to the torrent of criticism and told Fishbowl on Friday that she remained unphased:

Asked for her reaction to being criticized by Kimmel and McCain, Van Susteren told FishbowlDC, “I read what Megan McCain and Jimmy Kimmel said. I wasn’t bothered by it because I am sure they do not know what Louis C.K. really said.”
