It’s a Sunday afternoon showdown in Arlington, TX, as the NFC’s No. 1 seed, the Dallas Cowboys, take on the NFC North-winning Green Bay Packers.
The big question for the top-seeded Cowboys is how much latitude does rookie quarterback Dak Prescott have, with Tony Romo waiting in the wings? If the Cowboys are trailing by a healthy margin at the half, and the Dallas offense is sputtering, will Prescott be allowed to start the second half, or will head coach Jason Garrett (or, perhaps, owner Jerry Jones) make the call to the bullpen?
In the first five drives of the Packers wild card round game against the Giants last week spanning most of the first half, Green Bay scored zero points and gained just 51 yards. In the last 34 minutes of the game, though, they lit up the Giants’ heralded defense to the tune of 386 yards and 38 points. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been playing perhaps at the highest level of his Canton-bound career. He’ll be without one of his main weapons on Sunday, though. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson has been ruled out with a rib injury.
Late Sunday afternoon with the nation watching. Two prolific offenses versus two questionable defenses. This one should be a dandy.
