Fox Contributor Rips Nancy Mace’s ‘Cry for Help’ That Sends a ‘Bad Message’ to Women
Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo had some choice words for Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-SC) ink on Monday, calling the tattoos a “cry for help” and a “bad message” to women.
Appearing alongside the network’s Laura Ingraham on Monday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle, Arroyo weighed in on the congresswoman’s look after it began drawing attention online.
“Nancy Mace has some new ink, and I don’t mean that she wrote a book,” he said. “The South Carolina congresswoman debuted a series of tattoos while launching her YouTube show called Get Maced. She looks like she’s getting maced right there.”
Arroyo, laughing, went on to cite a February Politico interview in which Mace disclosed that she gets tattoos because of “the pain that I need to feel.”
“She apparently has PTSD over whatever she’s been going through,” added the Fox News contributor.
Seemingly coming at the matter from a more sympathetic place, Ingraham chimed in, “She said she had been raped. It’s horrible.”
Arroyo noted one tattoo depicting the Virgin Mary on Mace’s arm, declaring, “I wish she would pray to the Virgin rather than placing a tattoo of her on her bicep.”
“Well, she’s been through a lot,” countered Ingraham. “She’s working through it.”
Arroyo tried to interject again, leading Ingraham to insist, “No, Raymond. I don’t like tattoos. I’m not a tattoo person, but I don’t wanna — it’s their personal choice.”
“My heart goes out to her for whatever happened, and it sounds like there were some traumatic things,” Arroyo admitted. “But tats are not therapy… Self-expression in this way — I worry. When you need help — this is a cry for help. Go get that help, but this is a bad message to young women or anybody.”
“God bless,” Ingraham interrupted. “Raymond, we’ve gotta go.”
Also on Monday, Mace took to X to address the critics, writing, “Thoughts and prayers to all those affected by my sleeves. Made the mistake of opening my social media this afternoon. Some of y’all are OUT OF CONTROL. My biceps should NOT be a news story. We have more important things to worry about.”
