‘It Was Diabolical!’ Fox & Friends Debate Gets Heated Over Pol Who Wished For Trump Assassination
On Sunday, Democratic Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal apologized for a Facebook comment in which she wrote that she hopes President Donald Trump is assassinated.
“President Trump, I apologize to you and your family,” Chappelle-Nadal said.
On Monday, a Fox & Friends debate over whether Chappelle-Nadal’s apology was sufficient got pretty heated.
The mea culpa didn’t come quickly enough for Brunell Donald Kyei — the former chair of Diversity Outreach for Trump.
“I think four days is absolutely too much time when you are hoping that the president gets assassinated,” Donald Kyei said. She added, “[T]he Democratic Party and the Republican Party should have been all over her instantly denouncing this behavior of even saying that she wanted our president dead. Absolutely unacceptable.”
Democratic strategist Christy Setzer disagreed, saying that Chappelle-Nadal’s remorse compares favorably with Trump — who frequently incited violence during his campaign rallies.
“When we are talking about the president of the United States, inciting the violence that he did throughout the campaign,” Setzer said. When he had these fights happening at his rallies and we had his supporters beating up on protesters and on black people at his rallies, what did he do? He said ‘I hope they take them out in a stretcher.'”
Setzer added, “What she said was wrong. But that’s very different than doing things that are wrong.”
“It was diabolical!” Donald Kyei said — as the back and forth got a bit tense.
