Jeffrey Toobin Accuses Alan Dershowitz of ‘Carrying Water’ For Trump in Tense CNN Battle: ‘This is Not Who You Used to Be’
On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump Tweeted a quote from Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz during his appearance with Lou Dobbs on Tuesday. Dershowitz told Dobbs he believes Trump was right to say a special counsel never should have been appointed.
“Special Council is told to find crimes, whether a crime exists or not. I was opposed to the selection of Mueller to be Special Council. I am still opposed to it. I think President Trump was right when he said there never should have been a Special Council appointed because…..

…there was no probable cause for believing that there was any crime, collusion or otherwise, or obstruction of justice!” So stated by Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz.

Wednesday night on CNN, legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin — a one-time Dershowitz student — noted the presidential shout-out, and accused his former professor of shilling for Trump.
“How has this come about that in every situation over the past year you have been carrying water for Donald Trump?” Toobin said. “This is not who you used to be. And you are doing this over and over again in situations that are just obviously ripe with conflict of interest. And it’s just, like, what’s happened with you?”
Dershowitz defended his arguments — and fired back by accusing Toobin of exhibiting a liberal bias.
“I have attacked President Trump for many, many things,” Dershowitz said. “I’m not carrying his water. I’m saying exactly the same thing I’ve said for 50 years. And, Jeffrey, you ought to know that. You were my student. I have never deviated from this. I have never deviated from this point. The fact that it applies to Trump now, rather than applying to Bill Clinton, is why people like you have turned against me.”
