Jerry Seinfeld Reunites with Michael Richards in ‘Comedians in Cars’ Promo

Jerry and Kramer are together again in a new promo for the fifth season of Jerry Seinfeld’s web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” In the video, Michael Richards plays Dick Corcoran, the fictional president of Crackle, the streaming content company that hosts Seinfeld’s series.

“We thought: Who would be a good insane, pompous, power-mad president of Crackle?” Seinfeld told The New York Times’ Dave Itzkoff in an interview Thursday. “Who’s good at playing someone who has absolutely no power, but thinks they’re the czar of the universe? And that’s when I thought of Michael.”

“It felt like one of those scenes we would do,” he continued, “when he would take on another identity, as he did many times over the series, whether it was Dr. Van Nostrand or H.E. Pennypacker, the billionaire industrialist. That’s one of Michael’s magic wands.”

Michael Richards was the subject of one of the earliest and most substantive episodes of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” during which he addressed his state of mind during and following his infamous “n-word”-laced outburst at the Laugh Factory in 2006.

Last season, Seinfeld teamed up with Jason Alexander’s George Constanza for a special scripted episode of the show that aired during half-time at the Super Bowl. That leaves Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the only core Seinfeld actor not to appear on “Comedians in Cars,” which could mean we still have a Jerry and Elaine reunion in our future.

The new season of the web series premieres on November 6. Among the guests scheduled for the fifth season of the show are Fred Armisen, Bill Burr, Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Hart and Amy Schumer.
