Kellyanne Conway Repeatedly Refuses to Answer Why Trump Is Running Ads About Clinton’s Health

Few would deny that Donald Trump‘s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway is a total pro when it comes to handling tough questioning about the candidacy of her boss. Conway has, after all, willingly thrown herself into the lion’s den since taking over her role in mid-August, appearing on Rachel Maddow‘s program and even facing questions from Bill Maher on a recent Real Time appearance.

However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some questions she still ducks like a pro, either.

This morning during a hit on GMA with George Stephanopolous, Conway was pressed — more than once — to identify why the campaign is specifically targeting the health conspiracies of Hillary Clinton.

The brutal attack ad says, “Hillary Clinton doesn’t have the fortitude, strength, or stamina to lead in our world.” Footage shows Clinton stumbling outside the 9/11 memorial and — you guess it — coughing:

Stephanopolous asked Conway Wednesday morning, “We just saw that ad that you all are playing showing Hillary Clinton coughing, showing her stumble after that 9/11 ceremony. You have a huge gap with women right now; how are you going to be able to make that up running ads like that?”

“Well we need to take the message directly to them on issues they care about, like education, Obamacare…” she replied. Stephanopolous cut her off immediately.

“…and Hillary Clinton coughing and stumbling?”

Conway herself seemed to stumble a bit in that moment. “Well we’re, we’re, calling into question her, her record as Secretary of State. And frankly, an ad we’re releasing today is called ‘Corruption’,” she said.

“But right there you’re calling into question her health,” he challenged.

“No, we’re calling into question whether she’s got the stamina to lead,” Conway managed, a fact that Stephanopolous rebutted by pointing out that Trump himself credited Clinton with the ability to always get right back up on her feet and never stop fighting.
