Oh, Please, No: Angry Birds May Soon Slingshot Into TV Series
Like the world needs more Angry Birds. But sure enough, as Michael Starr reports in today’s New York Post, those angry, angry birds may be dive-bombing their way from your phone right onto your TV set.
Rovio, the Finnish company behind Birds–50 million downloads and counting–says it’s about to produce an animated Angry Birds for TV or the web:
“We have been looking at that for quite a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now — to work on broadcast content for ‘Angry Birds,’ ” Rovio CEO Mikael Hed told the British tech site C21media.net.
Starr reports Rovio has previously announced a marketing deal for Birds in response to interest from Hollywood in riding the Angry Birds bandwagon to big money TV windfall. If Jersey Shore can attract an audience, why not a bunch of irritated, pig-killing birds?
Dang. Now I’ve got that damn Angry Birds music in my head. Where’s my iPad?
