Politico Obtains Emails from O’Reilly Legal Team That Were Apparently ‘Sent by Mistake’

Politico tonight is reporting on emails they received from Bill O’Reilly‘s legal team… but according to the report, “a representative for O’Reilly subsequently said [the email exchange] had been sent by mistake.”

The email chain they obtained provides some insight into the strategy of O’Reilly’s team in what is being described as a last-ditch attempt to save his job.

O’Reilly attorney Marc Kasowitz said in a public statement that they had “uncovered evidence that the smear campaign is being orchestrated by far-left organizations bent on destroying O’Reilly for political and financial reasons.”

He said that this evidence “will be put forth shortly,” and Politico‘s report further illustrates what they had apparently discovered:

On Tuesday, O’Reilly and his legal team debated whether to share with the leadership of parent company 21st Century Fox an April 13 email from Mary Pat Bonner, a Democratic fundraiser and ally of the liberal watchdog group Media Matters, which had spearheaded what she called an “advertiser education campaign” to get advertisers to pull out of O’Reilly’s 8 p.m. nightly broadcast, “The O’Reilly Factor.”

That email also reportedly “announced two conference calls… with Media Matters President Angelo Carusone.” (Glenn Beck tweeted out an image yesterday of what may be that very email.)

O’Reilly himself also weighed in on the email chain, saying, “If we show to Fox tomorrow, word will get out and the Thursday call may be cancelled.”

At one point, he added, “You all should know that I will not put up with much more from FNC.”
