After Sarah Palin unexpectedly cancelled a campaign event in Florida Monday, NBC News took to Twitter to report that Todd Palin had been badly injured in a snow mobile accident:

As Donald Trump campaigns in North Carolina and Ohio today, the former Alaska Governor was scheduled to appear at The Villages for a campaign event. Trump’s website said on Sunday that Palin would appear at Lake Sumter Landing for an event at noon on Monday, though officials indicated Monday morning that they have been told the event was cancelled with no reason given.
On Tuesday voters in Florida head to the polls for the state-wide primary, which is viewed as a must-win contest for Florida Senator Marco Rubio. The newest polling data available from Real Clear Politics however indicate a sizable lead for Trump.
Palin took to Facebook this weekend ahead of her trip to discuss her excitement for heading to Florida to Make America Great Again:
The Donald Trump for President website addressed the change of plans by simply saying, “Governor Palin wishes her best to Mr. Trump in the upcoming primaries.”

The Donald Trump campaign issued the following statement Monday afternoon:
Todd Palin was in a bad snow machine accident last night and is currently hospitalized. Governor Palin is returning to Alaska to be with her husband and looks forward to being back on the campaign trail soon. Mr. Trump’s thoughts and prayers are with the Palin family at this time.
We will update this post as more information becomes available.
UPDATE — 3:31 p.m. ET: Despite previous reports, Sarah Palin made an appearance at a Donald Trump rally in Tampa, Florida Monday afternoon to support the candidate a day before the Florida primary. Palin addressed her husband’s condition, confirming he is in the ICU after “a big wreck”.
UPDATE — 4:27 p.m. ET: New information from the Associated Press suggests that Palin is likely to recover from his injuries. Mediaite has not yet confirmed Palin’s precise condition, but his snowmobile racing partner Scott Davis said today that he is still in the hospital, and that he will be okay.
