Roger Stone Using Grandson to Try and Raise Money For His Legal Bills

The special counsel’s Russia investigation is coming down hard on members of the Trump campaign, drowning in steep legal bills. Michael Flynn had to sell his house. Michael Caputo had to liquidate his kids’s college fund.
Roger Stone, a longtime adviser for Donald Trump who has come under Robert Mueller‘s scrutiny thanks to his boasting about contacts with Julian Assange and Wikileaks, is fighting back with a GoFundMe page to raise money for his legal bills.
And Stone is bringing on his family for help.
A GoFundMe page established on Thursday, and circulated on Twitter, named “Grandson’s Roger Stone Legal Fund,” seeks to raise $100,000 for Stone’s defense against the Russia probe, in the name of his grandson.
It starts:
My name is Nick Stevens. I am the grandson of the legendary Republican Political Operative and longtime Donald Trump advisor, Roger Stone. While it is very cool to have your grandfather be an important part of history, I can tell you that is not fun for me to see my grandfather and our family under attack.
This isn’t the first time Stevens has made a cameo appearance in Stone’s sartorially inept sideshow. In an Instagram post from March, Stevens was alongside Stone for a roasting of Sam Nunberg, who Stone called a “coke head.”
The description, which was definitely written by Stevens and not Stone himself, decries the investigation as “out of control,” and also claims Stone has used money intended for his offspring’s education to pay his legal bills:
I know for a fact that my grandfather’s legal expenses from his lawyers are expected to be more than half a million dollars. My grandfather has even been forced to use the small amount he has made from the sale of the five books he has written that was supposed to help pay for my college education and the college education of my sisters and my cousins – all of Roger Stone’s grandchildren.
It concludes:
It’s very hard to see these jerks on MSNBC lying about my grandfather and President Trump night after night after night. They have ruined my grandfather’s business and now they are trying to destroy our family. Don’t let it happen!
As of writing the fund has raised $890 of its $100,000 goal in two days.
