Sanders Launches New Political Group Called Our Revolution in Spite of Staff Drama
Bernie Sanders led a record-breaking campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination that earned a spot in history, no matter how you look at it. He might have lost to Hillary Clinton, but he hasn’t lost the spirit that drove him to run in the first place, nor has he lost the confidence of his legions of fans.
Thousands and thousands of viewers watched online as he addressed a crowd in Burlington, Vermont, this week, promising that his new group called Our Revolution would have an impact on elections just as his candidacy had an impact on American politics in general. He said that the goal is to back “over a hundred candidates” and “seven key ballot initiatives” and move the political dial farther and farther left.
The Young Turks‘ Cenk Uygur didn’t think that it got enough coverage, so the network did a segment on it:

Unfortunately, there were some headlines about the group, but they weren’t positive. Here’s what the New York Times had to say:
The announcement of the group, which was live streamed on Wednesday night, also came as a majority of its staff resigned after the appointment last Monday of Jeff Weaver, Mr. Sanders’s former campaign manager, to lead the organization.
Several people familiar with the organization said eight core staff members had stepped down. The group’s entire organizing department quit this week, along with people working in digital and data positions.
Maybe all of the drama will be worth it, though. According to a lot of people currently giving soundbites on the news, shakeups are totally normal!
