A day after veteran Democratic strategist David Axelrod tried to shame Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) for sniping about devoted White House aide Natalie Harp, the longtime political advisor abruptly pivoted — posting about a “deadly serious” issue with the much-talked-about assistant.
Ossoff caused a stir on Sunday when he remarked during a campaign rally that President Donald Trump would rather “travel with Natalie” than do his job.
Axelrod sniped at Ossoff’s jab in an X post Wednesday, calling it “gratuitous and unnecessary.”
But Axelrod sang a different tune after subsequent reporting revealed that Harp repeatedly declined to obtain the required security clearance to work in the White House.
It remains unclear why Harp refused to go through the standard security clearance.
“Now THIS is a different matter. If this story is true, and the person closest to the @POTUS and his thinking on a daily basis has no security clearance and refuses to submit to the process of getting it, it’s a deadly serious issue,” Axelrod wrote Thursday on X.
The 35-year-old Harp, who previously worked as an anchor for the pro-Trump network One America News, has been referred to as the “human printer” because she lugs around a portable printer to give Trump hard copies of news articles and other materials.
She’s been described as fiercely loyal to the commander in chief, sending him “devotional letters,” one of which reads, “You are all that matters to me.”
A recent report from CNN revealed the lengths Harp goes through to remain near Trump as much as possible. According to the report, she once sat in the trunk of an SUV in his motorcade just to make sure she could accompany the president to a court appearance.
Their relationship is so intense it has also reportedly alarmed the Secret Service, former Trump White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews told MS NOW.
