Sebastian Gorka Smears Jamal Khashoggi: A ‘Quote Unquote Journalist Who’s Not a Journalist’
— SiriusXM Patriot (@SiriusXMPatriot) October 18, 2018
Fox News contributor and former White House aide Sebastian Gorka claimed missing Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi is not actually a journalist and accused the media of only covering his disappearance because it can be used to make President Donald Trump’s anti-media rhetoric appear more sinister.
“The president has finally stood up to the media, which has been pumping lies for decades,” Gorka said while on SiriusXM Patriot today. “He’s calling parts of the mainstream media fake news.”
He continued: “Now, they think they’ve got and they can connect his righteous indignation at the lies with the death of this quote-on-quote journalist who’s not a journalist, that’s all this is about. If this guy wasn’t a journalist, they couldn’t care less about his plight. This is about attacking Donald J. Trump — nothing more, nothing less.”
Khashoggi is in fact a journalist, and has been since the mid 1980s. It’s unclear why Gorka falsely believes he is not a journalist.
The columnist went missing in Turkey early this month after he visited a Saudi consulate in the country and seemingly never left. Turkish authorities believe that Saudi Arabian operatives murdered Khashoggi, who was a dissident against the regime, and chopped his body up to ensure that its removal was discreet.
